Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Brasil, and AEL signed a contract to create a Technological Pole for Space Systems
This is a pioneer program for Latin America and intends to incentive and contributes to decentralize and make this sector self sufficient in Brazil
April 29th, 2013 – A partnership was made on this morning, inIsrael, to incentive, decentralize and develop Brazilian space sector. Rio Grande do Sul state and AEL Sistemas – Acting on airspace sector since 1983 – signed a MoU during the visit of to Israel.
The document was signed on the advanced Technological Center at Haifa and corresponds to a formal intention os its signings to implant a program capable of attending the essential needs of the country and contributes to its self-sufficiency. The initiative will involve the participation of universities, institutes, companies and Govern. The participation of academic means is essential to form man power with capability.
Govern will be compromised to enhance the capabilities and structure making investments no the state, as to enhance the capabilities of CIENTEC (RS Technology and Science Institution) and of the Advanced Electronic Technology Excellence Center (CEITEC). The technological vanguard and the expertise will be guaranteed by companies experience recognized on the sector, as the case of AEL and also from other national and international companies.
The first practical Project of the pole will be the development of a satellite of small size, involving universities, AEL and international partners. The objective will be to generate interest of academic means on space segment.
According to AEL president, Shlomo Erez, the signature of the contract is a symbol of AEL intentions to, together with the Government, develop strategical technology that will attend essential Brazilian needs. "The creation of this pole will insert our state on the group of the world regions that have structure and know-how to define satellite systems, satellite integration, manufacture and qualification of components, units and subunits of space use from high technology and value".
Space Systems Technological Pole
The signature of the MOU is considered the first step to the Space Systems Technological Pole. The researches made suggest that the pole have mix of vocation, to continue atracting the investments of the private iniciative and contribute to transform the área in a pole of Science, technology and innovation, from partnership with main universities, international companies, national institutes, ministries and Brazilian Space Agency.
