IFI analyzes flight tests of A-1M P2 prototype
The Institute of Industrial Coordination and Support, military organization subordinated to the DCTA recently completed the analysis of technical documents and monitoring of tests to prove the safety of prototype P2 (single) flight of the fighter A-1M.
The aircraft will receive from AEL Sistemas the multifunctional liquid crystal displays to equip its panel, each one with two units of 6x8 and 4x5 inches in the center console. The commonality between the displays of AEL provided for the F-5M and A-29 will also be present in the modernization of the A-1.
AEL will provide a new wide-angle holographic HUD vision that will also display images captured by an infrared sensor.
To insert data without lowering the head, the pilot will have a keyboard control UFCP (Up Front Control Panel) installed below the HUD.
The new mission systems of A-1M will interface to integrate the helmet Dash 4 (Display and Sight Helmet), giving the pilot greater levels of situational awareness. The Dash 4 is equipped with digital display that provides essential image parameters and flight and mission without diverting their attention from what happens on the outside of the aircraft. All the lighting inside the cockpit is NVG compatible, while allowing a clear observation of the external environment in conditions of total darkness.
The combination with the infrared sensor NVG NAV / FLIR will provide a remarkable level of situational awareness and navigation at night. It is being installed a new data recorder FDR (Flight Data Recorder), an indicator of the flight and engine EICAS (Engine Indication and Crew Alerting System) and weapons management system MIL-STD 1760C.
AEL is also delivering mission computers to be installed in pairs, as a security measure. These devices receives information from the sensors, navigation systems and communication, cast them, processing them and making them available to the pilot through the MFD, HUD and HMD, and will manage the delivery of weapons and marksmanship.
A second test aircraft, two-seats, will fly in 2013, featuring high-performance aircraft, such as range, the ability to refuel in flight and the two guns are kept. The project provides for the delivery of 43 subsonic fighters for the Brazilian Air Force until 2017.
"The A-1M are getting modern systems similar to those already fitted to our F-5M and A-29. The similarity between these aircraft avionics will help in the adaptation of our pilots and represents a standard that offers numerous operational advantages, such as improving the employment doctrine of the FAB and the best performance of flight hours, "said BAF Commander Brigadier Saito .
